New training Venue! We moved from Beer Engine to The Total Fitness centre Warrington Road, Goose Green, Wigan in October and now train in a state of the art training studio, sprung wooden flooring and air conditioned room with space for up to 30 students with use of modern changing room facilities. This with our Robin park venue ensures our students the best training environment we can find. The move has gone down really well with all our members. New junior and senior members Through out the year we have seen new members joining and some leaving but the trend has been a steady increase. This has helped us to ensure all members continue to develope their skills in a first name environment. We have some record attendance from some of the juniors as well. Seiki Juku training and holiday trip to Portugal Aug 06 Members of the club joined Andrew Wilshaw's club Miyabi Ryu for 2 weeks in Vilamoura during which there were training sessions in Ju Jitsu, Weapons and Karate, and a special weekend Kyusho course presented by Jack Hogan 9th Dan. The holiday was a great success, the weekend Kyusho course was held in Joao Fernandes club in Quatera with his Portugese students and instruction from Jack Hogan in Kyusho techniques. Andy put on afternoon sessions of ju jitsu and Bob took all the students through his 6th dan kata, Hungetsu. Further training sessions took place out doors with some entertaining practise in the sea.It was not all training, a full day out at the local water park which saw everyone on slides and in pools, individual trips ranging from shark fishing, sea world and the nearby roman ruins. Plus a group meal to celebrate the course, the holiday and the award of Bob's 6th Dan.Needless to say many hours of intense martial arts discussion took place into the early hours on every night in the hotel bar, while some of the younger members exercised their star qualities in the Karaoke bar.The trip was a huge success and very enjoyable our thanks go to Andrea and Andy for the organisation, to Jack for spending so much time with us, Jojo for the club facilities and the evening training sessions, Bob for the Kata training and all who attended making the holiday and training a real martial arts family event. Gradings Steady progress by the juniors and some milestone gradings for the seniors took place throughout the year. our two 6 year old members have really stuck to their training and we have some promising future blackbelts! |
