Chief instructor Sensei Robert Carruthers 6th Dan has been practicing karate for over 35 years. Bob trained in Taekwondo and Shotokan and joined John Smith's Bunjinkai school, before opening up his first Dojo in Cornwall in 1973.

He trained in the BKA with such teachers as Danny Conner and Roy Stanhope UKASCO In the mid Seventies Bob joined the Shobokan Scholl where he trained with founder P.A.J. Handyside. Bob established his club in Wigan.

In 2000 the Seiki Juku school joined the KYR Bugei Renmei and began to integrate Jujutsu techniques into the style. At a presentation in Dublin Bob was awarded Fifth Dan Renshi by Master Joe Carslake and the Kiai Yamabushi Ryu senior instructors.

In 2004 the Seiki Juku Joined the NTK Martial Arts affiliated to EKGB

Bob's 6th Dan was awarded in Portugal in Aug 2006 by Jack Hogan 9th Dan Karate.

Bob is also Chief examiner and Technical advisor for karate to the NTK traditional Martial arts association


To support the local community Bob has also organized and run short martial arts classes for Wigan Sports Council during term holidays to give students an insight to the sport. He is also available to visit local groups to give introductory lessons and insights into basic but effective self defense techniques.
